Grolier Products

Hello mommies! It has been extremely a while. Haha, setahun sekali baru update blog. This is going to be lengthy though.

Today's topic is about Grolier products. Pls understand that I am not Grolier sales agent. I'm a mother who just recently decided to buy their products.

I saw there was a lot of negative comment/review on Grolier products especially for their services. However the comment was mainly coming from 2-4 years back. Since I've already bought it (just bought it), I just wanted to write our journey with Grolier Products. I'll be very honest with my review, don't worry :)

Last week (23/10/16) there was a book fair in Village Mall, Sungai Petani, Kedah. Long story short, my husband & I attracted to this Grolier products. At first, we decided to let Adellia explore & see how she enjoy playing+learning with the products. Well, it seems fun. She is 3 year old, so we thought this is a very good exposure for her to help feed her curiosity.

FYI, we spent 1.5 hrs just listening & exploring to products ourselves. Why so long? Because it is not cheap & we have this routine to ask more if we really interested on something. So....after 2 separate husband-wife meeting later, we decided it is worth our money & time to try.

Why we decided to buy?  Here's why:
1. Earlier that month I've been surveying Montessori school in SP area. The monthly costs would be RM6xx. Bare in mind, to enroll your child to this kind of school you will need to pay a certain amount of money for registration, books, clothes, fees, etc which amounting up to RM1xxx. We want to be able to provide the best that i could for our child, but coming from finance background we've already have this little calculator in our mind calculating the 'worth-it' meter.

Worth-It Meter
1. Worth the money with the services/education level that our child is going to received from the school?
2. Do you trust the system or the learning materials?
3. Is your child going to be happy with the new curriculum at the new school?
4. If you plan to have more kids, do you confident that you will be able to send all child to the same level of school at the same age? We shouldn't favor 1 child with the expense of the other child's feelings.

2. Since she was little (before 1 year old little) we make it a habit to spend time with our child at certain time for reading/playing masak-masak;lego/memorizing the world flags/learn Spanish/flashcards together. As she is now 3 years old, our sessions is more like 60% play 40% learning. We have done this since she was little. Results? She can count in bahasa/english/spanish at, know ABC, shapes, color, dzkir at 2 years old. My point is? TIME. Do you have 30 minutes everyday for your child? If yes, Grolier products should be a good addition to your family.

3. Bonding time - I'm a working mother, working at  a private company. Push off from home at 6.50am & arrive home at between 5-8pm. Both my husband & I travel to/fm work, spending time in car at least 2 hrs in total IF not raining & less lorry on the road. My daughter spend most of her time at school. Both of us have freelance part time job which we will do after Subuh during weekend. I have limited time to spend with my daughter, but yet we manage it. Why? My husband play equally important role as I am. If i'm not able to make it, he will spend his time with our daughter & vice versa. We plan to add this Grolier session for our bonding time. My question, what activity do you do with your child during your free time? :)

4. Our daughter loves her current school a lot! It is a normal kindergarden & they teach the students to read via phonics (Peter & Jane + Bacalah Anakku). They also have Quran class in the evening. We decided it is enough for her exposure. We feel that it is unnecessary to send her to Montessori & decide to expose her creative learning ourselves at home via Grolier + her Leapfrog Books :)

Before you decide to purchase Grolier, I believe, one need to understand the product does not grant you more free time & help keeping your child occupied when you are focusing on other things. It takes commitment & time to be able to fully utilized the product. If you can invest that much for your child, I suggest for you to open up your mind & go through their website and decide whether you liked it.

Now, i know some parents can relate to the writing. Some might agree, some might not. We personally think it worth to try.

To add, i just received a phone call from the delivery man an hour ago. I should expect to receive my package today. However the guy mentioned 1 product is currently out of stock, so I shall see how long does it takes them to deliver the remaining later. This is a good example to see their customer services. Hope it won't take so long. We are in 2016, let's see whether they have improved their customer service.

To share, for RM 149/month, below are the lists that we purchased

1. Talking English (20 vol) + 1 Pen
2. I Wonder Why (12 vol) + 1 Pen
3. Logico Primo (1 Set)
4. Morphun Construction Toy (1 Set - 400 pcs)
5. Book Case (1 Unit)
6. Help Me Learn To Draw (1 Set)
7. Fun Thinkers (10 Vol)
8. Raise Your Child's Self Esteem - 99 Easy Things To Do

I will update whether the purchase is worth our money. :)

Baby Arman Dani

Salam mommies. Today's post is related to a beautiful baby bos, Baby Arman Dani. Baby Arman has made an everlasting impression on my life, although we have not personally met, or even talk to him or with any of the family members for that matter. But yes, I've been following his mommy's IG since nearly 2 months ago. Her IG id is ladyofleisure2101.

Baby Arman Dani has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. I followed this IG to get updates from his mommy on his conditions.

I asked my hubs on day to accompany me to the hospital to donate blood to him during this coming school break. Because during this time my mama & sisters will be staying at my house for a while, and they'll be able to take care of Adellia while my husband & I will go and visit baby Arman Dani. Plus, I will not have to bring Adellia to the hospital while I'm donating my blood.

We did not manage to pay baby Arman a visit and it broke my heart to know that Baby Arman was no longer with us. No mother would want such thing to happen to their child. I am praying for his mommy to stay strong as he is in a better place and he is no longer in pain.

Baby Arman Dani, doa for your mama sayang. Semoga bertemu di Syurga. Al-Fatihah.

Papa, Mama, Adellia & Tok Babah has just arrived from KL. We are taking a break for the weekend and looking forward for an awesome holiday with aunty2, Tok Mama, Tok Babah, Winnieboy & Ahjupaw.

Tomorrow's plan. Visit Mak Cik Ani for 1 session of mengurut for mama & Adellia. Then perhaps we'll stop by kedai sup perut as well!!!

It is 2.18am in the morning. Adellia has just sleep. Still coughing, unfortunately. Her body temperature at 7.30pm was 38.0°… We will definitely drop by PPUM once we got back to KL to check on Adellia's condition. It has been 2 weeks. Hope this is only a normal flu. Not pneumonia.

I'll keep updated. InsyaAllah

Homemade Chicken Stock - Fishy Style

Salam mommies! Sooooooo... Can you spot the fish? Haha. Entry harini berkenaan dengan healthy food for your baby. Malangnya saya tak sempat nak snap gambar untuk chicken stock yang saya dah freeze kan haritu. Still in the freezer, I'll go and take a snap later nanti, InsyaAllah.

Homemade chicken stock is very convenient for busy mommies especially and yet healthy to your baby.

Plan to cook chicken porridge? Pop in few chicken cube inside, and yeah! The food became tasty. Plan to cook meat porridge? Yeahhhhh. You figured. Hence, I am sharing my recipe for my version of chicken stock.

Ingredients:
1 kg raw chicken carcasses, legs or wings chopped
½ head garlic, chopped or bashed
3 sticks celery, roughly chopped
2 medium leeks, roughly chopped
2 medium onions, roughly chopped
1 large carrots, roughly chopped
water

How to cook?
1-  Place the chicken carcasses, garlic & vegetables in a large, deep-bottomed pan.
2-  Add the water and bring to the boil
3-  Skim & turn the heat down to a simmer.
4- Continue to simmer for 3-4 hours & skimming as necessary
5- Let it cool for 1 hour (at least) before refrigerate.

FYI, mommies! The stock lasts for 4 days in fridge and 2-3 months in freezer. I have mine put in freezer in ice cube tray. You may put it in IKEA's cute ice cube tray as below.

Mom's Love Good for Child's Brain

Salam Mommies! Nampak tak hasil scan otak kat bawah? Menurut kajian neurologists, kasih sayang daripada ibu mempengaruhi dan memberi impak yang besar terhadap pertumbuhan otak bayi. How's that? (:

Pernah tengok those documentaries di Astro channel CI? Kebanyakkan kanak-kanak yang sering didera atau diabaikan akan memberi kesan yang tak elok kepada kehidupan kanak-kanak tersebut or till they become adult. Most likely the child with smaller brain will be more likely to involved in crimes, addicted to drugs or more likely to be unemployed.

Thus, jom lah kita sama-sama pay attention to our kids. Hear what they want to say, response, love & nurture them, give good example. (Mental note to me as well). Be a good mama, be a good papa and insyaAllah dengan doa dan tawakkal semoga anak-anak kita jadi anak yang soleh & solehah.

Adellia, sayang. Be a good girl. I know you are a smart kid & papa will give you the trading class. I bet he can't wait. As soon as you can talk & can understand us, I guarantee papa will start give you the lesson. Haha. No harm if you could get extra money for yourself. Also, sayang. Mama doa kepada Allah supaya Adellia sentiasa dijumpakan dengan orang-orang yang betul dalam hidup Adellia. Those who can actually lead you to be a better you, a better me. InsyaAllah.

Soooo....... Tonight, lets have a round of flash card learning session. We are aiming for bigger brain!! Weehoooooooooo!
